BECOMING A
POLICE OFFICER
Individuals must be 18 years old and a high school graduate with a minimum of 60 post-high school semester credits (you can possess any degree/background to become an officer) OR must have three (3) years full-time employment or military experience and obtain 60 post-high school semester credits within five (5) years of appointment. Candidates must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, be a United States citizen, and/or have proof of naturalization. Candidates cannot have felony convictions on their records. Salary Range: $65,414.99 to $81,203.56 - dependent upon years of service (lateral hires may start at a higher step within the pay scale). Additional shift differential, educational incentive, holiday, and other pays available. If you are not a certifiable police officer, we will sponsor you through the Law Enforcement Academy and pay an hourly recruit rate of $26.20 while you attend. The Law Enforcement Academy is held through the Chippewa Valley Technical College located in Eau Claire, WI.
